Big Ride Day 9

Missoula, MT Rest Day Next Day Previous Day

Photos from Day 9

Wow, two days rest in a row! Most of us are really happy to have that much time of, though some people are antsy about it. As has been the theme throughout so far, the weather was good for our first rest day. It was actually chilly but sunny and nice. I couldn't sleep as well as I wanted and finally got up at 8:00 AM to see about breakfast, which we were supposed to have in camp. I decided to relax and just spend the day at a leisurely pace. I ate breakfast, took a shower and sat around talking for a while. Molly had a machine that measures body fat and hydration levels and I had her measure my body fat level. It is 10.5% right now -- not bad. I actually feel like I'm gaining a little weight so far on the ride. I've been eating just a ridiculous amount of food. I must say that I'm getting a little sick of stuffing myself so full every night. It's just amazing how much food it takes to ride all day!

After lounging around camp for a while, I decided to "do my chores." First, I went to the laundromat and did my laundry. Then, I went to the library to check my e-mail and send out another update. Finally, I cruised by the post office and sent some post cards and a package for Christine. After doing all that, I hiked back to camp and started looking for a group to go to dinner with. I hooked up with some of the "young crowd" and ended up going to a pizza joint downtown. The food and company were good. After that, we went to a local bar and it was fairly uneventful. I finally headed to bed about midnight looking forward to sleeping in.
