Big Ride Day 28

New Ulm, MN Rest Day Next Day Previous Day

Photos from Day 28

After the partying at the Heritagefest the night before, I woke up not feeling that great. I didn't drink that much but combined with the effects of dehydration from riding, it was enough to give me some trouble. About 9:00, it got too hot in my tent to sleep so I got up and called Theresa and Jim. Jim said that he wouldn't be able to make it down but that Theresa would come down with their newborn baby, Anna. I was really looking forward to seeing her again and seeing a familiar face along the route. I showered and worked on my bike until she showed up and then we went to the downtown area. New Ulm has such a cute little downtown. It is so clean and well maintained like the rest of the town. We dropped my laundry off and then headed to lunch. We had lunch at one of the local German restaurants (when in Rome...). The food was great and I ate mine and most of Theresa's. We had a great conversation. Lots of people kept coming up and asking if we were married and even some of the riders commented that I must have really been missing home with such a young child. How funny!

After lunch, Theresa had to leave and I went back to finish up my laundry. By that time, I was feeling even worse. I got a ride home on the shuttle us and then took a nap at camp to try and feel better. It didn't really help and I was mad at myself for wasting the afternoon. So I went back downtown to get some dinner. I had a sub at Subway and felt better after that, but by the time I got back, it was time for bed. Another day down. I can't believe how fast this is starting to go by.
